This presentation will provide an overview of the ongoing Meta litigation in the LA Superior Court and New Mexico, as well as the upcoming NCDA trial. Joseph McNally, Director of Emerging Litigation at McNicholas & McNicholas and former Acting U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California, will provide an overview of the key trials and connect them to broader issues, including the scope and limits of Section 230, platform risk mitigation, and the challenges of proving causation in cases involving mental health and addiction.

•    How Section 230 is shaping lawsuits involving harm to minors
•    Challenges of proving causation involving social media, addiction, and mental health
•    What technology companies are doing to mitigate platform risks
•    How encryption and “going dark” are impacting law enforcement investigations
